Mill Basin Kosher Deli - Mill Basin / BK

For this trip, I took advantage of a friend having his car in the city that day, and we drove out to Mill Basin to avoid a long train + bus trip.  And I'm glad we saved the time because I was not impressed by the hot pastrami sandwich at this place that, like all the rest, claims to have the best hot pastrami in NYC.  There wasn't much flavor there and the sandwich wasn't that big.  The pastrami was thinly sliced, which I like, but didn't have that creaminess of some of the other pastramis.  This is my least favorite sandwich so far.

Also, we decided to get two appetizers to share.  First was the stuffed cabbage, which had great flavor but was very dry inside.  The second one was very unique -- a pastrami eggroll (see below); tasty but nothing amazing.  It is a shame that it's such a schlep to get there because they did have some very delicious-sounding creative items on the menu that I wouldn't mind trying.  Oh well, there are easier-to-get-to delis that have interesting non-pastrami items on their menus to try!

P.S.  I've been told that with Adelman's deli having closed in April, this deli and Jay & Lloyds in Sheepshead Bay are the only remaining old school kosher delis in south Brooklyn.
